Additional Information on the local Burying Grounds:
The Ancient Burying Ground and Village Cemetery are central to the town’s past, while remaining an active burial location. If you are searching for a grave and cannot locate it within this site, please be patient as we continue to work towards plotting the entire location with over 4,000 markers. For additional information on this project or finding an ancestor please contact Wethersfield Historical Society.
For Information on the burial and care of the cemetery:
Please contact Bruce Cutkomp, Sexton at 860.563.8381. Grave purchases are restricted to current or past residents of Wethersfield. The cemetery is open to the public year round, dusk to dawn. Please remember that visitors to the Village Cemetery and Old Burying Ground are requested not to apply any substances to enhance photography. Gravestone rubbings are not allowed as well.
Without the aid of the people and organizations listed below, this project would never have been completed: Martha Smart, Frank Winarski, Bryant Zilinski, Connecticut State Library, Connecticut Historical Society, the staff at the Town Clerks Office and Engineers Office in Wethersfield’s Town Hall, Village Cemetery Association, and the staff at Wethersfield Historical Society. They all have my greatest appreciation.
Transcriptions and photos of the stones in the Village Cemetery are needed. If anyone would like to help and be involved with this project, please contact the Wethersfield Historical Society.
