On Saturday evening, October 29, Wethersfield Historical Society and 170 of our friends and neighbors came together in the Grand Ballroom of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield) for the First Inaugural Witch of Blackbird Pond Ball. The Keeney Ballroom was dressed to the nines, arrayed in seasonal finery by Circa Antiques & Collectibles’ Melinda Robidoux. Guests enjoyed delectable hors d’oeuvres from Ascot Catering, unique signature cocktails, and one-of-a-kind desserts. iHeartMedia’s Renee DiNino was a first-rate mistress of ceremonies, ably assisted by DJ Joey Brooks, who kept the evening’s soundtrack popping all night long (with more than a nod to some Halloween classics). A stellar time was had by all and we have the photos to prove it.
Below are four galleries documenting the event and the creativity guests brought to bear in choosing their costumes. If you attended the ball, you can enjoy these photos as a reminiscence of a truly memorable evening. If you weren’t able to join us, you can see what you missed, and plan accordingly for next year.
To navigate through the photos, click on one of the following images and the associated gallery will open in a light box in the center of your screen. In the top right hand corner is the control panel. From left to right the buttons are “Zoom In,” “Full Screen,” and “Close.” WHS recommends viewing the galleries in full screen and navigating through the photos at your own pace by clicking the left and right arrows on the screen or by using the corresponding left and right arrows on your keyboard. If you click on an image, it will display at a larger size. Click the image again and it will return to its normal size. Clicking outside the image will close the light box and return you to the web page. The same function can be accomplished by clicking the “Close” button on the control panel or by hitting the “Escape” button on your keyboard.
